From the very beginning of his working career within the vinyl record industry in 1980, Tom has work within the electroforming industry refining and developing robust replication processes. These processes provided the footing to enter the ophthalmic industry in 1990 with the mandate to develop a method of producing molds to be used for casting lenses. By 1996 until 2005, Tom had opened his own manufacturing facility in Clearwater Florida building custom electroforming tanks and selling the key electroforming know-how to other leading ophthalmic manufactures under the name of Optical Electro Forming Inc. During this time, other key technologies were developed to aid in optical insert manufacturing capabilities that are still used today by others who have purchased the electro forming or diamond turning know-how throughout the industry. In 2006. Tom began another optical company called NiPro Optics located in Irvine Ca. This company has taken electro forming of complex optical molds to yet an higher level while also developing exceptionally complex free-form diamond turning programs that others simple cannot produce. For nearly 20 years, NiPro Optics has grown as a fully integrated company with every step of the fabrication process under one roof.

Once young Tom Gross saw the power of electroforming, his next question was, “how far can you take it?”

This led Tom to work in the world of Optics and be involved with major optics manufacturing companies. After years dedicated to the craft, Tom became a leader himself, pushing the sciences to new levels by developing proprietary processes and creating components with never before seen precision and durability.

Now, NiPro is a world leader in precision optical mirrors plus ophthalmic mold types and is continuously pushing the science. This whole time, CEO Tom Gross keeps the same spirit, “You got to have fun.”
